So figured i would do some routine maitenance before modding.

1. Timing belt and water pump
2. Front and rear breaks.
3. front slotted rotors.
4. A/c pulley.
5. Radiator ( was told there was a small leak somewhere)




Now time for her first country cruise.!

 

Next thing........I did not care for my stock shift knob. Its was heavily used and not much stickyness left to the leather. So i looked up these sickspeed rally striped shift knob.. Made with some temperate metal the keeps from getting really hot or really cold. also the actual material is white and black. it is not painted so wont scratch or fade. very easy install. Its time to go stage 2.................................................


1. Grimmspeed Manual Boost Controller ( this thing is pretty sweet when it comes to the cheaper route going with a MBC instead of EBCS. Kinda of regret not just divying up another 20 bucks for a used GrmmSpeed EBCS with way more features and far better performace. But for MBC, this is as good as it gets, has a +/- boost psi adjustment system. Each click counter or clockwise is 1/4 psi +/-. Performs pretty well. Can be set at 0-60 psi with just one spring. .

Got an open source stage 2 pro tune. Set my turbo at 16 PSI. She goes Zoom now !

 

Radiator shroud to help clean things up.

 

got a stereo system....just had to from having one in my old car.
1. Kenwood exceleon 150 watt 2 channel 15 RMS amp.
2. 12 inch rockford fosgate punch subwoofer.
3. Boss 2 Farad Capacitor with digital read out.

 

When's the build?.. and who did the tune?

Build will be the EJ25 and most likely next year after i get her cleaned up a bit.

 

Buddy of mine does road tunes. He did a good job.Stage 2 tune. Set my boost at 16 psi for the time being while i have the "Tiny TD04". turbo. But still managed to put me up around 225 - 230 WHP. Definety night n day after throwing the downpipe on.

 

please let me know if anyone is parting out sti parts from and 02-07. Body or performance parts.

 

I'm local to you, and have a couple things for sale. Does the 2.5i have WRX suspension, or the standard Impreza stuff?

I could probably use the heat shield. Mine came without one and ive heard about how it helps prevent heat soak. And yeah i have all the sways and stabilizer bars,

good build thread so far. Im really jealous of you guys with the larger hood scoop on the bugeye. mine is so damn small, I hate it.

 

Im in SE portland. tualitin is really close though.Thats where my tuners shop is. We should meet up soon. And Phobic: Give it time, You can find alot of deals on hood scoops. I have the 02 JDM sti hood scoop that i see on alot of other bugeyes. Nice thing is these cars ( for being performance sport cars) last quite awhile as long as you take care of them. Just start small, set a goal, and do whatev you need to do to make it how you want it.

 

Consider running a Hybrid boost control instead of JUST an MBC.

 

why a hybrid?

 

So you retain the ability to cut boost in situations the ECU needs to. So you have compensations for things like temp. So you can fix PTFB by ramping up WGDC based on throttle angle. All this while maintaining the MBC as the boost control at WOT. All positives, with the only negative being slightly more cost (GM solenoid is like $30).

Cool thanks man, appreciate it. Yeah id like to get a vf39 here soon. But sooo many different turbos. Just seems like the most reliable.

 

When do you want that heat shield, BTW? If you're ever in the Tualatin/Tigard area in the middle of the day, I could meet you over my lunchbreak or something.

I wouldn't say the VF39 is any more reliable than any other quality made turbo. The only thing it really has going for it is you can get them used dirt cheap. If you're buying new there are better options out there.

 

yeah for sure. would like to go 20g eventually but im going to sell this bugeye and upgrade to and 07 sti.
