The tint is on! 35% all around. It looks good, but I wish our laws in MA allowed it to be a little darker (20% is the sweet spot for me).

I'm pretty stoked about how it came out. To anyone that's around me, Mr. Tint in West Springfield are the guys that did the job. $130 for all 4 doors and the rear windshield. Not a bad deal.

From New York Window Tint Law | TintCenter Window Tinting:

Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 6 inches of the windshield.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Rear Window Any darkness can be used.
Jeez I don't blame you one bit. I don't feel so bad anymore!

Yeah I did 20% on my tC and I regret it... after a year or so, finally got that unwanted attention and having to get all that crap off sucked... 35% is just right.
It's growing on me. Before I went to work today I kinda just walked around the car scoping it out like I was going to steal it. :wiggles:

Haven't updated in a while, but I did hit 10,000 miles this morning!

So far the car has been great and I've only had 1 minor issue with it my brake light, but that was fixed under warranty. Other than that, the car is a blast to drive and I have all of these goodies sitting in boxes waiting to be installed. Soon I'll have the short shifter, low profile subwoofer and (hopefully) some new winter wheels on the car. That is unless Hurricane Irene does a number on my area this weekend!

Got a sneak peak of some winter shoes that came in today from Discount Tire Direct:

Drag DR-34 17x7.5. 45mm offset. Very excited for snow and can't wait to get these things on! I'm also getting my low profile subwoofer installed under the passenger seat this Sunday. I'll have pics and first impressions of that too.

Got my subwoofer installed today! Ended up going with the low profile Boss Bass600 powered unit.

Buy.com - Boss BASS600 Woofer

It's mounted under the passenger seat and for the price it's a decent setup. I had to play with the mids/highs in the stock head unit. After that it sounds really nice. It's nowhere near as loud as the dual 12" subs in the trunk of my last car, but I knew that going in. Here are some pictures, I'll throw some videos up later.

Seat all the way forward

Seat halfway back (low view)

The subwoofer is tucked away nicely and you can't see it unless you kneel down to look (like the last photo). I like the stealth of the install and it delivers some nice "bump", especially to whoever is riding shotgun!

I was able to record a quick video tonight of the subwoofer in action. When it comes to recordings of exhausts and sound setups, in person is always better. That being said, I have a sub hooked up to my desktop and the video sounds pretty good. (If you can't tell, I like a little bit of bass ;))

Nice.I like your little tree ;)

How much for the sub?

I'm thinking of getting the sound ordanance powered sub from crutchfield. Its on sale now for $159 after discountsSound Ordnance™ B-8PT 120-watt compact powered subwoofer at Crutchfield.com
Ha thanks! The new car smell is gone...took me a while to accept that. The sub cost $99 at Amazon. I think it's been discontinued though because I can't find it on their site anymore.

I paid $150 for the install (needed a wiring kit) and for $250 out the door, I'm a pretty happy camper. I didn't want to sacrifice trunk space and needed a little more low end. This does the job for cheap! Even the installer said it wasn't that bad for the price. The one you've got on Crutchfield seems like a good deal. I say go for it!

The radar detector is something I've had for about 2 years now. The model I have can be picked up for about $300 (actually ~$275 on Amazon right now), and in my opinion is a worthy investment. I used to be a big speeder back in the day. I've changed my driving habits since then, but I do like to stretch the cars legs from time to time. I mean come on, who wouldn't. Because of this, I wanted an extra pair of "eyes" on the road. Basically, the detector picks up signals given off by police radar and laser guns. I have a lot of hills around where I live, but some folks out west with better conditions have been warned of police radar presence upwards of 2 miles. For me I usually get a half mile warning and I almost always hear the detector before I see the police cruiser. It's an extra layer of defense if you happen to be speeding.

When used with common sense, they can come in handy. Don't go out and buy one and expect to go 80+ everywhere. You'll be screwed in no time at all. ;) However, if you find yourself coasting above the posted speed limit from time to time, this little guy can be a nice reminder to take things down a notch. I have been saved many times and it has definitely paid for itself when you think of tickets and insurance premium hikes. It only takes one or two "saves" for it to be paid off. The most notable example was when I was going about 85 on the highway in my previous vehicle. I had a rabbit (someone ahead of me speeding as well) about 1/4 mile ahead of me. We're cresting a hill and my radar detector goes off. I slow down, he doesn't. The state trooper that was sitting in the median lit him up like a Christmas tree. Now that's not to say I wasn't lucky, because the cop surely could have nailed me too, but I had that little extra warning. The car in front of me didn't. :sadwave:

Since I've had the detector I haven't been pulled over for speeding, and I would say that's an accomplishment with this car. Who knows, maybe I'm just a little more responsible now. If you're looking for a product recommendation, you can't go wrong with the Escort Passport 8500 X50. Buy it.

I was curious to see how those wheels looked on an 11. Im a dealer for discount tire.. Looks good man.
I was searching high and low for a pic of an 11 with these on, but couldn't find them anywhere. I decided to take the plunge and see for myself. I'm happy they turned out okay.
