Hi all,

Does anyone know if a full size spare will fit into the spare tire compartment in the trunk for a 2007 STi?

If not will a full size that is deflated work? Not so sure thats a good idea though...... ?

If anyone has experience with this let me know

Thanks!

^Yes. How much of a bump depends on what wheels you have, but a quick guesstimate would be about 3-4" for stock wheels if I had to guess. All bets are off if you have larger than stock wheels.

As for storing it deflated, that sort of defeats the purpose of a spare.... :screwy:

thanks for the responses,

i have the gold bbs 17 inch rims and the tires sizes i can get with the spare is: 225/45 R17 90W.

the rim that will go in the has a size of 17x8JJ.

The spare will be exactly the same as above

This should be good right?

last confirmation - i promise :D

i dont mind if the wood thing doesnt fit, just as long as the full size tire will go in that compartment without too much hassle.

It's worth pointing out that all four tires must be within 2/32-inch of each other. It's okay to run them for a 50miles, or so until the original tire can be fixed.

So after a few thousand miles that spare isn't going to be the right size to run long term.

Most people have decided a full size spare really isn't worth it.

Sorry but isn't test fitting a full size wheel with rubber from any corner of the car into the compartment the best way to be certain about this? There's a lot of money involved, I'd do this personally if it were me. Just thinking out loud.

thanks for all the info guys, helped a lot.

@SD_GR - The donut is the same diameter as the full sized spare I have ordered with the BBS Gold rim so there should be no issues at all. got my measuring tape out and everything!

Worse comes to worse i'll toss out the donut and keep the tire in the trunk, since nothing else goes in there anyhows...

thanks all!

You could go to a hobby store and get carpet and see a dome into it do that it covers the full size spare correctly. You can also get a spare cardboard piece from a wreck and cut that, so it'll fit too. Then it'd look neat, it'd be quiet as it is now, and the only difference would be a irregular bottom surface.
