well put this into prospective...i was at the parts counter at my subaru dealership the other day and we were BS'ing about STI's and he mentioned the BBS wheels on my STI run about $750 a peice so $3,000 for the set not counting the tires and your getting them for $1,000, ya id say that a good deal....but then again the parts counter guy coulda been blowing smoke up my a$$.

 

those service guys are always smokin crack. But to answer your question, a $1000 is a good price and right in line with other stock STI BBS rim sales past and present.

 

No $1,000 is not a good price on the big auction site.

If you are on the stock suspention the 225'd will fit fine.

 

If you want an idea, just watch eBay for a month as suggested in the previous post. You will see a set of BBS STi wheels, 5 x 100, go for less than $1000 (maybe $800+) and some times with tires too. I have been watching for a few months and it seems the 5 x 100 wheels are going for more $$$ than the STI BBS 5 x 114.3 wheels because there was only a single year for the USDM 5 x 100 vs. 3 years for USDM 5 x 114.3.

Currently, I saw no sets up for auction on eBay or for sale Portland Craigslist. Just keep watching and they show up. Question is, do you feel lucky enough to get a no hassle eBay deal?

I just got a set of the 5x100 bbs rims. and I have to say I love them.
but I only paid 400 for them with decent tread left on the 070's.
but to answer your question, yes, they are good rims.

 

a 17x7.5" rim at 16.5 lbs in a 50+ offset for $250 is pretty good

You can get a little lighter (lb or two), but it's going to cost you ~ $500-600 a pop!

You can go a little lighter in a 16" rim (it will still cost however) but your correct, less tire choices in 16" vs 17".

 

I just got a set of 17x8 Enkei wheels very similar to the RF1 with 4/32 Falken 615's 235/40/17 on them for $900 last night and used them today for AutoX. :thumbup:

Which rims are lighter than a 17 x 7.5" STi rim? They have to fit over the Brembos...

To the OP, smaller is lighter.

 

For stock class- not sure- there may be none that are 7.5" clear the Brembos AND make the 1/4" (6mm) offset.

For other than stock class - 17x8 TE's or CE28Ns, SSR Type C, probably a couple more- again we are only talking about a lb or two though. By comparison- my TE's which are a full inch WIDER than my oe wheels are still 5lbs lighter/corner!

The oe BBS wheel is a good one- no doubt.

 

The Enkei RPF1 are lighter than the BBS. You can also get them in an 8" too. :thumbup:

You can get them in 17x7.5. I would check with a vendor on brembo fitment with the 7.5".

What tires are you going to run?

 

I've run stock and Victoraces in the stock size. Thinking about more.

Also thinking about wheel spacers in the front. If the wheels are not 53 mm then i can forget about the spacers.

I've had good experences running more front track.

Spent 6 hrs driving yesterday for a semi local pickup and now am the new owner:thumbup:

They seem pretty nice I like the off silver almost steel grey. Although I would have done something different for looks, I think performance wise for the price would be hard to beat.
