i dont wanna do the cut out thing but actaully place is where the axel meets the mid pipe or where the mid pipe meets the downpipe.....it will allow me to control exhaust flow but will it also quiet down the noise? This would be nice for those days where u really dont want a the loudness and are too busy to be bolting on the silencer on and off and also for PO reasons...all by a switch of a button...what do u think???

Um, if this is directly bolted in the flow of your exhaust, I can only see badness coming when it is fully closed.

:eek3:

The only way I know how to quiet down an exhaust is by welding in a resonator or inserting a silencer.

well if u look at it fully closed still lets the exhaust pass by, is no different from a silencer as from where i see it.....im just wondering if it will actaully quite down like a silencer

A silencer (or resonator / muffler) absorbs or redirects sound waves into one another canceling each other out to some degree, but letting the pressure escape.

Big difference.

Yeah this thing just stops the exhaust from flowing freely, not making anything quieter. Not good.

It would be perfectly fine as a cutout. That is, if it closes 100%.
Yeah ... it looks like it is designed to do just that. There is a vendor hawking a similar product here (with the needed piping).

Someone is trying to pass it off as a silencer to make a few bucks.

Silencer != Resonator/muffler in this case. What he's refering to is the type of silencer that you put in the tip of some exhausts to quiet them down.

This 'cut out' doesn't seem like it's too good. While it's not fully closed when it's set to 0%, it's definitely not enough to let the required amount of exhaust gas out of it.

Tip silencers - aren't they simply mini-mufflers / resonators of some sort? I thought they were

get a quality one like that, thats someone elses car but i've been thinking about getting one for a while now. As you can see the flow isnt blocked when its closed because theirs an open pipe inside the downpipe that lets everything flow when closed and goes directly out and LOUD when open. I wouldnt get this if i had a catback, i would get this if i wanted a stock look and still have the sound/power with a push of a button. Basically stock catback with catless downpipe and open up the cutout at any point u want the power or noise. Thats my plan atleast.

i was gonna get the Quick Time performance downpipe but i heard too many bad things about it,,,that eventually even when fully closed it would start leaking and what not...
