I must say as much as I love my new 06 wrx tr, I really would like to know what the regular edition sound system would have been like... haha. Good sound is very important to me, I cant just stand by and deal with these so-so front speakers for very long. Can anyone here give a testimony to what they upgraded to and if theyre happy with it? I always used to be a fan of pioneer head units, but whats an excellent brand of speakers to go with these days? I was thinkin pioneer also, or polk, or infinity... Also, even though the TR has no rear speakers, it at least looks like there is a place to put some in thank god. So, 6 1/2 in the front, 4 in the back-- whos already made some changes and is getting a full rich sound? Let me know!

Ah you are right, thanks for making me take a closer look-- I assumed when they said it had 4 speakers, they were talking about the two on the front doors, and the tweeters by the handle, and that the back grills had nothing behind them. I now see that the tweeters are empty and there are def 2 4 inchers in the back. Haha I swear Ive never heard any sound coming from the back until I just put my ear right up to it. Glad to hear someone else thinks the stock ones are garbage, I just read on another post that even someone with a 2010 said it is complete crap, so I guess theres no point in wondering what the standard editions premium sound set up would have sounded like, as Im sure it was also not that good. Plus the head unit seems easier to replace in the TR. Thanks again!

Thanks! I realized I was way off right after I posted this thread... haha. I have since upgraded the head unit to a pioneer avh dvd series and it sounds great even with the stock speakers. Im sure Ill replace those too at some point, and now I def know which sizes to get... the only remaining question is brand... pioneer, polk, or infinity..
