It seems unlikely that your transmission would get so hot that the heat would radiate through the tranny case, through the undercarriage of the car and make the plastic of the interior hot to the touch.

I'm think maybe the sun is coming through your windows and heating the plastic. :thumbup:

 

yea i thought that but it is hotter then the dash is and even on cloudy days its the same.

 

Have you checked the transmission fluid recently? When was the last time the oil (transmission fluid) was changed? Are the syncros working well?

Maybe there is something wrong with your (transmission) oil pump.

yea i was going to change the trans fluid out when i get back i am not sure when the last change was i bout it used from the dealer. the and by oil do u mean the motor oil that was changed about a month ago. the snycros are working fine. thanks for the link to the.

 

is your heater on full blast

By Oil I meant transmission fluid... yea, what I said didn't really make sense.
According to the manual it should be done every 30,000 miles. I did mine every 20k or so (in my 5-speed).

"Subaru Extra S" is specifically made to work with the 6-speed and it's limited slip diffs.

Amsoil has also had good reviews

Please note: Redline shockproof cannot be used in the 6-speed because of the transmission oil pump.

Most of the information in this thread is for the 5-speed, but there is a lot of good information in it
