NO power/BOOST in high RPM and my mechanic is stumped - HELP!!!!

I have a 2002 WRX. When I got it, I put an AEM cool air intake in as well as a turboX blow off valve. Besides that it's stock. The Turbo was replaced not too long ago as well. The car has 93k miles. For some reason yet to be determined, the car has no power above 4.5k RPM's. It wants to and you can feel it trying to but it doesn';t happen. If you are just cruising up to 45MPH and shifting before 3.5-4k RPM's I guess you couldn't even sense anything was wrong with the car. The blow off valve is making the noise and releasing the air and it sounds fine, however, when you try and drive it like it should be driven, something is not right. If you tried to go from 0-60MPH it would take you much longer then it should.

My mechanic has tried replacing the blow off valve and the intake with the stock parts and that didn't work. They have taken parts out and checked them too...

Could it be the computer? What should I do? Anyone ever experience this or have any idea what could be the problem?

Is your BOV venting to atmosphere? Read THIS for information on that one.

when you say it has no power what exactly is it doing? hesitating? Does the turbo feel like it is "sputtering" in a sense? or just not even working?

do you have a boost guage? If so what is it reading?

How about CEL (check engine lights)

You could try resetting the ECU, disconnect the negative battery cable and with it disconnected hold down the brake pedal for 30 seconds then reconnect.

The more information you give the better. There are tons of people on here that know these cars inside and out.

Oh and Welcome to the Club :)

With your BOV being pulled off and put on was the gasket replaced? as for the turbo who did the work? Why was it replaced? Is it the stock turbo?

Were the boost lines replaced along with it?

If you have a camera take a picture of your motor, I would like to see the BOV setup and the boost lines running off the turbo.

A lot of info is needed to narrow down your problem. So you can most likely be helped if you help us with as much info as possible.

I'm not an expert at all but after hanging out here for a while, doing a ton of research and hanging out with a professional tuner for 9+ hours you learn a few things.

It could be a slew of things, especially if you don't have a gauge to measure PSI.....if you're not hitting target boost, I'd say that during all the installs (removal of the turbo, etc.) you had the small vacum line replaced that housed the restrictor pill....or you have a boost solenoid that is either malfunctioning or been replaced with a Manual version....but this is just a high level guess.....
