Mine was only 1500 a year under my parents for an 05 STi..this was when I was 17 I'm 18 now

Mine is too cheap to mention here and not get banned (>2x your age, no tickets, no wrecks).

I think I remember the wagon being cheaper to insure and you can tell your dad it is bigger too.

+1 for the wagon.

Hi everybody, first post here. I am 17 years old and want a WRX. I have liked the STi, but not only being too expensive, the insurance is sky high, upwards of $3,000. :screwy:

Right now, I drive a Chevy S10, insurance is about $1400 with me under my dad's name. I was wondering how much a 2002 WRX or 2003 WRX would cost to insure per year. I know the WRX is one of the most expensive to repair in a collision so this may be a problem faced but if anyone has a good idea how much it might be I would love to know!

Thank you
I wish you all the luck in the world getting affordable insurance.

I was a foolish driver at 17. Most are. That's why insurance rates are so high. If my parents bought me a WRX when I was 17, I'd never have seen my 18th birthday.

I wish you all the best, but be very careful. All your friends are going to want you to show off. Either you'll crash your car and look foolish or hurt someone. Sorry if I'm preaching but I have made those mistakes and regret it, big time. In my 40's now I own a great car. Have fun but not too much fun. No tickets No accidents. Low insurance.

Ahhh... to answer your question. You may want to get collision only with high deductables until your 24 when insurance rates drop drastically.

2d = 2-door Conv = convertible spw = sport wagon
4d = 4-door van = van 2wd = 2-wheel drive
S/W = station wagon pk = pick-up 4wd = 4-wheel drive

The above is how some insurers get their numbers if you notice

IMPREZA 4D E 10% E means that its a 4 door with E for liability which nets the highest premiums as well as damage which also nets highest premiums. Now for a wagon

IMPREZA S/W A 20% E means that you get A for liability which will net lower premium and will give you higher percentage on the amount of medical payments so wagons rule. You basically get the same car but you are saving alot when it comes down to insurance costs.
