Yeah, I was supposed to call my insurance today (I was actually planning on it before I made the post but it was too late) So I figured I'd try here. I guess $2600 is not all that unreasonable, it is just that my parents will have to catch the slack until I get a job this summer. I couldn't call insurance and probably wont be able to until tomorrow or Sunday since I had lacrosse today. I think our insurance company goes by A's and B's or honor roll for a $200 discount. I will also look into a defensive drivers class, that is a very good idea.

One more thing, I think that the WRX would be a mid size sedan. It is not considered a sports car right? Our insurance company will not insure sports cars.

mine is $1200/yr in one of the most expensive zip codes you can have. :rotfl:

Yeah dude try the class, for me it was like 60 bucks and 5 hours of sitting in a class, and all you got to do is fax the certificate over and boom lower premium. Good luck with it.

And remember the WRX is a fun car but all laws of physics and obsticles on the road apply to it even though you'll hear how great the AWD is, if you get it you have to respect it for what it is ( a performance car) and be responsible about the way you drive it. This is just a little friendly advice becasue there are a lot of threads on here and other forums where young guys such as you, do major damage to their cars and their surroundings. One kid drove through a house becasue he was flying at least 80mph through a residential neighboorhood in his WRX. Which is one of the factors that also make for a higher insurance on the WRX in general.

Im 17, drive an '05... mine was $3000.. with good student discount, and the car not being my primary car.

just DON'T GET A TICKET .. and you'll be fine. if you get 1 point on your license it will go up about $1400 more a year.

I know how to respect power and all that. I've been riding dirtbikes since I was 9 and driving things all my life. Plus in Maine there are so many driving conditions and stuff. I have been in enough close calls dirtbiking that I know limits. My bike is the fastest production motocross bike so its not like I'm not used to getting myself into trouble.

I usually drive pretty slow too. Never over 10 mph, not to be a pansy but I usually just chill when I drive, unless theres some perfect traffic to swerve through. But hey I use my blinkers.:)

Me: 18 yr old male. 2 Accidents, 2 totaled cars, one at fault. 1998 mitsu eclipse gst, 2006 scion tc *crappy ass downgraded camery* lol. 5 tickets? 1 for speed, one for unsafe lane change, others or misc. I pay 2400 a year for my 06 wrx TR. lol East wood broker helped me. Shop around and you'l see what u want. Have fun and drive safely lol. I think i'l stop driving on full throttle since its pouring rain here in cali. Crazy weather.

When i was 17 it was about $110/month for full coverage on my rex. Granted this is nearly 4 years ago, and there have been a lot thefts and crashes since then. That was with the good GPA discount, car parked in a garage and a relatively safe area as far as theft goes.

Now that i'm in europe i pay $1600/year for basic coverage. So it can always get worse...

Have a good look around and i'm sure you'll find something.

Haha my post should have said never more than 10mph over the speed limit. My bad, but I didn't get the chance to call today.

I have been looking at bigger trucks and WRX's so basically it is either high gas prices with lower insurance or high insurance with lower gas prices. So I'm still looking.

Is this even with the car under your parents name and under their policy?

The insurance is only $200 more than my S10 insurance! Now to convince my dad, he wants me to get a bigger car. A couple days ago I was showing him some WRX's and he said "why do you want that little peice of crap?" Any ideas to justify the purchase to him?

Hi everybody, first post here. I am 17 years old and want a WRX. I have liked the STi, but not only being too expensive, the insurance is sky high, upwards of $3,000. :screwy:

Right now, I drive a Chevy S10, insurance is about $1400 with me under my dad's name. I was wondering how much a 2002 WRX or 2003 WRX would cost to insure per year. I know the WRX is one of the most expensive to repair in a collision so this may be a problem faced but if anyone has a good idea how much it might be I would love to know!

Thank you
Hey it also my first post..Try also www.insurancepaylite.com they offer free quote's there..

I'm in the same boat as thelastsession, I'll be 17 and my parents are fine with the WRX as a car but skeptical on insurance. I have good student discount, no tickets or anything, and I'm on a family policy or w/e. Neighborhood safe as it gets, parked on driveway. I currently drive a '96 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0 V8 (gas-guzzling-rollie-pollie) so my insurance ain't cheap as it is. Hopefully insurance on a 02 WRX will be somewhere in the range of what I have now...

I'll look into the defensive driving classes too.
