So I purchased a set of 05-07 STI BBS wheels for my 2023 WRX. Not sure if anyone has run these older STI wheels on the VB chassis yet, but IMO they look and fit great. Seen a few run the newer 18" STI wheels. I did a bit of research and found they had very similar offset and are the same size as my stock base model wheels.

Still need to have my stock TPMS sensors and stock summer tires swapped to the "new" wheels, hopefully sometime this week.

Love it! I've literally been browsing the web to see if anyone else has done this for weeks haha. I was concerned about the size but your pics confirm they look great! I have a set of 04's sitting in the garage waiting to be cleared (if the rain ever stops). Literally just finished fixing all the blemishes and gave them a fresh coat of GS BBS gold last night. They'll be going on my 22' CSB.

The gold does look killer with the black! IMO the gold goes good with most of the colors the WRX comes in.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought 04 STI wheels were the only ones that were 5Ă—100mm bolt pattern? I was under the impression it wasn't till 05 and later that the STI came with the 5Ă—114.3mm bolt pattern? That's one of the reasons I made sure to get a set of wheels from the 05-07 STI cars so they'd bolt up to my car.

So I picked my car up from the dealer yesterday afternoon. They had swapped my stock summer tires onto the BBS wheels. Not sure why but all the tires were 41psi or higher, one being 45psi. So when I got home I went to check the higher pressure tire and found this. The threaded end had been mostly broken off, on a brand new valve stem.

Called them immediately after finding the broken stem. Have to drive it back to the dealer tomorrow after work for them to fix it. I get stuff happens, but I am still disappointed. Hoping they make it right, above and beyond just fixing the valve stem. I paid a premium to have them swap tires, so I expect premium service in return. I'd like to build a relationship with their service department so I can have my car regularly serviced by them for as long as I own it, so hoping they make it right. It's convenient getting a loaner car... LOL

Does that sound unreasonable? I don't like making a big deal about things with my automobiles, usually fix most things myself. But this is my first new car and I feel I'm a little more picky with it. Also has anyone else run into the dealer airing your tires up over factory when having tires changed? The tires were over 40psi when I picked the car up the day I bought it, I had to air them down to near factory rated pressures once I realized.

I'll let y'all know how I make out this afternoon.

Oof, yeah looks like they tried to use something (maybe pliers) to pull the valve stem through, nicked the paint, and destroyed the the threads. So typically at any dealer or shop tires and oil are assigned to the greenest guys. They 100% should have replaced the sensor and informed you that they damaged the paint. My guess the tech didn't want to get into trouble.

I'm doing the same process you did, need to swap tires from my stock wheels and the TPMS sensors. Will not be happy if they screw up the paint or destroy a TPMS stem.

So sorry for the wait, long post ahead.

Took the car back Thursday after work, they took the car in to "fix it", ~15 minutes later told me they didn't have a new valve stem to replace it with. They thought they could "repair it", great planning on their part. Probably the main reason they let me leave with it damaged in the first place, no more to replace with, and hoping I wouldn't notice.

So they told me they'd look into finding a new valve stem and call me when I could bring it back in. I explained to them I didn't feel comfortable with driving it as is for more than the short distance home. Plus I was very unhappy I paid dealership money to have this fiasco occur. They basically told me tough luck, at that point, without actually saying that. Claimed it was more than safe, just for me to "not touch it". No offer for loaner car since my new car wasn't 100% due to their failure.

So Friday morning I called another local subaru dealer, who is known to stock lots of parts, to see if they had any available. They had plenty in stock. So I called my dealer and told them to send someone over to get one and call me when they did, so I could bring the car in to have fixed that evening after work. They called me back around 9am to say they were bringing the part in and I could bring the car in after work to have repaired. IMO by their attitude the day before they wouldn't have gotten in the part as soon as they did without me calling and pushing them to get it ASAP. They didn't give me a date when said part would be in, nor a "hey we'll next day a stem in if need be to make this right" as I thought they should in this scenario.

When I arrived after work on Friday the service manager met me and apologized, gave me his card with some writing on the back promising free oil change and free tire rotations for the life of the tires. They had the car fixed quickly. I didn't even bring up the wheel damage since I wasn't 100% sure if they did it or the previous owner has done it when slapping in the old valve stems. I'm 70% sure they did, but it seemed to me they weren't going to go out of their way for that if I couldn't prove it. Being used wheels didn't help. I had asked the service guy about even a partial refund, because of their failure and lack of professionalism, and they claimed that wasn't possible.

I was just glad to be done dealing with them and be on my way at this point. I already have a free oil change thru them for having purchased the car from them. At this point though I really hesitate to ever go back there again the way they hid damage they did to new parts and their lack of professional service. It is sad because I wanted to have a good relationship with them so I could have all the factory service done there and keep it all on record to look good when I eventually sell the car. Unfortunately they ruined my trust in them. I can handle a little screw up, but they dropped the ball on so many levels. They could have had me keep the original loaner car while they ordered a new stem in on the first time around, then none of this would have been an issue. But they rather let it go out knowingly broken, then blow smoke up my behind when I had to come back twice.

Sorry about the book length explanation of my issues with the local subaru dealer. I can rotate my own tires, actually like to do so myself for multiple reasons. I also plan on taking my car to a buddy who lives a couple hours away to have factory service done. Will be less convenient, but I can make a weekend trip out of it each time.
