Whining noise on 2019 Wrx Sti

I'm new to the forum so forgive me if I am asking a question that has been answered in the past. I'll start with the basics.
I just bought a 2019 Wrx Sti from a dealership with 55k miles. 1 owner before me and the car is all stock. What happens is, sometimes, usually before the car is warmed up, if I turn it sharp (like as far as it will turn) in either direction like when I am backing out of my driveway it will give a small whine for about 1/2 a second and go away. I've noticed it do it one other time when turning the wheel sharply while going forward as well. I didn't notice any sound when I test drove it and the car was sold as is. So far, I haven't heard it do it once it is warmed up or when making any regular turns, but I also haven't put a ton of miles on it since buying it a week ago due to working a lot. The car feels fine when turning normally (maybe a little stiffer than my previous car, but I have also never owned an AWD car, so not sure if that matters.) Is this normal because the car is cold, or is it a sign of power steering pump failure? The power steering reservoir is full. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From what you're describing, I can only guess the 'whining noise' is from the power steering when you turn it all the way to the turn stop (steering wheel cannot turn anymore). I want to say a little noise is not bad, but if you're going straight and slightest turn cause sound, then something is going wrong. I would keep an eye (ear) on it to see if it gets any worse. If it only happens at the full stop on steering, it's not anything to worry about yet. Anyone, correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the response. Thankfully it doesn't do it when turning in any normal direction. Only full lock does it whine (its almost not even a whine sound, but I just can't think of the right word)for a 1/2 second. I'll keep an ear out for any future sounds that could pop up. Also, I drove it earlier and the steering feels fine and very responsive. Like I said, its just way different then my old 5 door sonic ltz. This has been my dream car for almost 18 years so I worry too much.

Makes me feel better. Other than that it runs like a dream so I've been very happy. I guess that's just the car telling you it doesn't like it lol. I've just never had another car do that, but I also have had other cars power steering go out and the Sti isn't showing any of those symptoms.
