Hey guys my bearing spun and there’s metal throughout the car, I’ve been told I just need a

New short block
Water pump
Oil pump
Timing kit
Resurface heads
Oil cooler
Engine flush
is there anything else I’m missing or do I need to replace/clean anything else?

I would either do what Zax said, or send your heads out to be inspected. When my STi spun a rod bearing my heads were salvageable, they just needed a light polishing to clear any scarring from the bearing pieces. My stock turbo also crapped the bed. So those 2 things are definitely worth looking into. Anything oil touches should be replaced or at least inspected by a professional.

I called a few tuner shops and they’re quoting me at $8000 for everything done. Should I just buy a complete engine for $4500? I found a couple for around $4000-4500 with only 40-50k miles on them, compression tested with a 30 day warranty.

So. You'll need a shortblock. The heads will need machined and possibly cams addressed if they are galled from bearing material that can circulate. They should check that at the engine shop.

Anything that flows oil is going to need replaced, or disassembled and checked for damage. Including the turbo.

Usually this kind of work runs 8-10k depending on the location. Personally I think 1000 bucks is a little lowballed for an engine install, but who am I.

While the engine is out of address the timing belt and tensioner/idlers. I'd also go ahead and get a new clutch and flywheel in there. Any accessories that were fine previously should be good to go. It should go without saying coils and plugs should all be new as well. Depending on the age of the car vacuum hoses and coolant hoses should be done.

There shouldn't be anything besides the turbo oil lines to be flushed, and those are better replaced.

Your response wasn't written very well for an apparent English major. You said nothing about a "local shop". As Zax said, you only stated 1000 for maintenance. Maintenance can mean 100 different things...... So Zax asked you a legitimate question and you decide to act like a child. We were trying to help you and answer your questions. Now, I hope no one helps you.

As I stated before, $1000 for them to just stare at it?😂💀 it’s not that hard to tell what someone means when they say they want to buy a new engine for $4500 and $1000 for maintenance. It’s common sense really💀💀 stfu dude you’re a nerd
