I have a 2002 WRX with the stock TD04. The car is stage II protuned with a Cobb exhaust. 98K on the clock. The oil seal in the turbo is on the way out (it's blowing smoke after prolonged idling). I got a stock TD04 off a 2005 Saab 92x to replace it with.
I've gotten the following parts to replace it:
-Uppipe to turbo gasket
-Downpipe to turbo gasket
-All new mounting nuts for studs on turbo
-Crush washers for oil feed line
-Crush washers for oil return line
Questions:
-I know I should reuse my restrictor pill. But what about the wastegate actuator. I've been told they are different. Do I swap them? If so, how would I go about setting the pre-load on the actuator arm.
-What's the proper procedure for priming the new turbo with oil?
-Anything else I need to do? Anything else i'm missing?
