STI Intake Manifold Paint Peeling- Advice?

Hey folks- did a search on the site before posting, to no avail, so i apologize if this has been discussed before.

Just recently acquired a sparingly used 1999 STI V (GC8) with a very cool 30k Kms on the clock.
Everything is in great condition, but the intake manifold paint is well on its way out, most of which has peeled off.

I believe High Temperature (Aluminum) paint is the remedy.

Questions:

1. Any Brand in particular i should use?

2. Any do/don't for repainting the unit- i heard that once painted, the manifold should be 'baked' as a normal paint should be- is this safe, in terms ensuring that the manifold is not damaged?

Thanks

i would pull it out... sand it down to get the paint off then paint it then bake it

might not be a bad idea to search around your island or see if you can mail it out elsewhere for a powder coating or crinkle coat job if you don't want to take care of it yourself. It will be a bit of work removing it I imagine no matter what. But that also depends on how well you want that finish to look.

Ralph's suggestion was probably the easiest. Use a high heat tested engine paint (Duplicolor makes a good one). Sand it down real good, spray with a high heat tested primer, then use a few coats of the engine paint. Then bake at 400 degrees or more to cure the paint.
