Sorry for the newbie type question but I put a k&n drop in style filter in my 06 WRX and installed a SPT cat back exhuast a while back. Should I have reset my ECU or with these simple mods does it not matter? If a reset should have been done should I do it now. I've been driving with the filter for about 1500 miles and the exhuast for about 200 miles. I figured I didn't need to reset the ECU since these mods don't do a whole lot but I've been reading lately that the ECU should be reset with any little change. Thanks

+1?! It's not like he installed a downpipe or 17,000cc inj. If you havn't done it now I wouldn't worry about it. From what I've read, resetting the ECU simply helps it learn faster; correct me if I'm wrong. You should be fine the way you are right now.

Neither do anything but make noise, so dont worry about it.

I thought that the driving cycle was the time it took for the ECU to run through it's checklist of sensors and whatnot and get back to the beginning.

Maybe that takes a similar amount of time as warming the car up.

BTW, you spelled escalator wrong in your signature.

I am pretty sure a driving cycle = turning car on, and off again. But don't think that turning off the car immediately after u turn it on counts. Go for a drive in between.....

A driving cycle is considered the time when you turn the ignition to the time you turn off you car. In order to be a cycle you must reach operating temp and remain there for a period of time before shutting off your engine. A basic example if your commute to or from work.
