After reading up on the rules for the upcoming Mitsubishi Vs. Subaru lap battle at Miller Motorsports park (LapBattle.com) on May 2nd...... I went ahead and took some preparatory measures:

Stoptech stage 1 brake package.... Motul Fluid, stainless steel braided lines, and axxis ultimate pads :)

Import Image Racing: Stoptech Stage 1 Brake Kit for 06-07 WRX

By the way... Import image had the best price on the planet.... including ebay.

I have every intention of stomping some mitsubishi ass :)

Tires are still in work.... probably buying tomorrow..... install pics within a week!!! :)

I decided against both the Sumitomos and the Falkens.

I just bought them..... brand new for the summer from Nitto (NT-05).... their grippiest street tire thus far.... and unlike the falkens, actually decent in the rain:

$570, shipped to my door, 235-40-18

Nitto Tire - High Performance Tires for Car and Truck Enthusiasts

These ought to do the trick :)

Looky what just showed up from the UPS guy. :)

These things are crazy!!! I've never owned a set of tires like this before. It's amazing... the sidewall is damn near bulletproof..... feels like it's made out of kevlar or something.

But the tread...... is so damn soft and sticky..... feels like the eraser of a pencil.

I'm so going to kick some mitsubishi ass :)

One of these days we should compare each other's list of mod bills ;) I'm willing to bet we could collectively account for multiple divorce cases...:D

Is there a 12 step program for car addiction?

Last time I counted, I was at $8900 in mods.

I just spent another $1700 in the past week on swaybars, endlinks, tires, and a stoptech stg 1 brake kit.

over 90% of what I buy is on eBay... after shopping for hours. I'll shop for 3 hours to save 10 bucks.... thats how cheap I am--LOL

Retail???? EASILY $15K... probably more

Thank god I do my own labor--LOL

You're right... my wife is SO going to leave me--LOL

Honestly... I spoil her too though... we're actually looking at picking up a 4th Subie for her to use as a commuter. I have no idea if a baby seat fits in an SVX.... but I hope so :)

Gettin all hot and sticky over here :)

Haven't had a chance to "really" try them out yet.... funny..... the tires are actually pretty quiet...... except every little piece of sand, pebble, dirt, etc gets picked up by these things...... So I hear this constant rat tat tat tat tat from my wheelwells.

Kinda cool actually..... cause I know why it's doing it :)

You're about the 1000th person that has told me that--LOL

I HATE, despise tinted windows..... I can't see out of them at night. They look awesome on cars from the outside... I just can't stand driving them.

The Tribeca is tinted from the factory.... I hate driving it at night.

Next up... Stoptech stg 1 brake kit (pads, fluid, steel braided lines).... supposed to show up Monday from UPS.... I'll be doing it next week sometime :)

Sorry man, I guess I just get so used to the tinted look it just looks strange to me without it ;)

One thing I like about tint/window film is it cuts down on the heat, the UV rays beating on your dash, etc, and really helps out the glare on a bright day. It's like sunglasses. That's why I got it, but that's just me.

That gravel thing with the tires will go away after a few break-in miles...

Nice those Nittos are sweet. Gonna have to factor that tire in as a possible choice now. Ahhhh, damn decisions! I want an easy answer and the best price, lol.

I hear on the ebay thing, I am a deal finder. If it takes hours I will spend them, and if it takes weeks, I will wait. Haste makes waste. I shop through CL too. Found my scooby on ebay and went all the way to Portland to get it. Drove it back in two days, Cannonball run style.

Metallic Silver 2004 STi with 17K for 17K, ahh geah.

If only tires were more affordable... I just found out yesterday the nice $675 Michelins I had on last year before the winter are now junked, and can't put them back on again for this summer. Looks like I'll have to drop another $675 on some tires. Faaaaack.

Re-re. Now you need an alignment! :D

It's done... what a friggin pain in the butt.... Had to bleed the brakes twice.... twice up on jacks.. twice wheels on and off... ugggg.

But.... worthwhile.... my grabs the pavement so hard when its stopping, it's unbelievable..... much better pedal feel as well.

Stoptech steel braided lines, front and rear
Axxis Ultimate brake pads, front and rear

Aye. Funny thing is, with my "performance" alignment I have now, absolutely no tire wear. Junk alignment I had before, or lack thereof, that's what caused my tire wear, I'm guessing....
Man I swear the alignment is so sensitive on STis, I have about 1-2 32nds of tread difference in my two front tires and which ever side has the smaller size...the car has a slight pull to that direction (i know cuz I switch the wheels on front just to prove t to myself). Might also be that my 070s are down to less than half the tread. Think the only resolution is four new ones...ahh more scrilla.

Love these cars to death, but what with tires, fuel, and upgrades, they can deplete the wallet just as fast as they launch off the line.

Stock rotors? Bet if you grabbed a pair of Brembos drilled/slotted and had the setup you have you would stop on a dime and give 9 cents change back.

Yeah I have the Brembo cross drilled and I want to get the braided steel lines. Even with stock lines, my ride stops real nice...can feel the grab more as the brakes heat up, kinda crazy, you can check yourself if your not careful, lol. Downside....brake dust ahhhhh. Thats why you get black rims :)

You can get 4 brembos for the price of 2 stock replacements, at least thats the story for the STi.

I wanna paint my rims black... They look good on your car and must look good on mine! Except I want a red lip to match my badge. How to paint a red lip... >.<
