Hello everyone. We just received our 2024 WRX last week and prior to delivery swapped the factory Summer Performance tires for A/S tires. The original tires are brand new (maybe 10 miles) and we would like to sell them. We have the paperwork to prove they are new. We are located in Maywood, NJ 07607 (Northeast NJ) and these would be for pick-up only. They are the factory original Dunlop 245/40 R18 97Y SP Sport Maxx GT 600A tires. All serious offers will be considered. They sell new for approx $1,500 on various tire websites. Let me know if you are interested and we can exchange contact info.

We know tire sizes and 254 ain't a .. common one lol. They're not a bad dry tyre, but don't expect to get.. anything more than around 1200 for em. It doesn't matter what they sell for, Subaru bought em for less lol.

especially since summer tires wear out quickly somebody will need them....

Na ya I'm sure they'll sell, but between us, if they came on the car and that was driven in the cold, it could actually cause permanent effects on the polymer itself but not.. to the extent where you're going to be able to tell outside of scientific testing. That's actually why most .. wear so quickly, you should have them in theory, like you do stored unpressurized and unmounted if it's under 35-45°F.

As an aside, it does seem pretty dumb that Subaru would sell a (marketed as) all-season rally-type car with tires that can't handle temperatures below 35F. Seems like a way more intelligent idea to put something like Conti DWS06 or similar on the cars. I guess Dunlop made a better deal...

They're totally different tyres? You don't get.. this is one area of materials science that.. is very complicated. That's literally like me saying ya why not put some orange juice on the pasta.. I guess tomatoes got a better deal. Ha

PLUS the summer tires are the factory default tires and I guaranty here in Northeast NJ 99% of the customers don't realize how bad they are in the winter... and the dealers don't warn them... PLUS there's no factory A/S tire option... these have less than 10 miles on them and are stored bagged, unmounted, and unpressurized in my nice garage.... in some states if they caught you driving with these in bad winter conditions they would ticket you and impound the car....

Summer tires should beat all seasons unless it's like.. under 15°Fish, they'll just wear quicker? 🤔

never in slushy or any snowy conditions.... or even just when it is really cold in dry conditions which is normal here in Northeast NJ for approx 6-7 months of the year... I have seen cars crash with summer tires on them in totally dry conditions when it is really cold. Subaru should have made the A/S tires at least a factory option.... maybe the TR and GT default to summer tires with A/S option but the others should be default A/S with summer tire option....

Why would an automatic get .. summer tires?🤔 Lol. I don't get this generation of car guys. I really don't. Or your BMW fetishes lmao. (Generalities of course my man) 😉👍

yes my point is so many people are not aware of this.... only because I am in that business.... the insurance companies are not very happy if/when there is a claim for a winter car crash involving cars with summer tires on them... When I was at BMW we always warned the M3 and M5 customers about this and frequently sold or advised them (verbally and in writing) on winter wheel and tire packages to help them enjoy their cars all year round.... especially when the WRX also attracts younger, less experienced, and less affluent customers... the idea of spending extra money on an extra set of winter wheels and tires is not as accepted.... let alone warning winter-weather drivers about the dangers of summer tires...

Ah right on man. Gotcha 👌 just not used to educated people on the internet lol do not take it personally! And the insurance is part of my point. If I am better at driving with summer tires than all seasons or winters .. in cold conditions (which they will still outperform AS) isn't that my prerogative and I know my own abilities? What the fuck happened to personal responsibility? Well I'm afraid sociology is too far gone to fix it. I spend more money on attorneys than my vehicles on average over a decade.

I never thought about the insurance aspect of it. That's a good point. It's similar to the people who modify front-end suspension components for fitting intercoolers or adding cross braces having the potential to fight with insurance companies.

in some states if they caught you driving with these in bad winter conditions they would ticket you and impound the car....
It's hard for me to believe this is common practice without other involved factors such as blatant reckless driving or bad traffic crashes. I suspect the impounding game of towing vehicles and collecting fees is short lived in general.

it does seem pretty dumb that Subaru would sell a (marketed as) all-season rally-type car with tires that can't handle temperatures below 35F.
The car feels more of a slush box without them. I can put the Dunlops on our Forester and it would make the vehicle feel more sporty.

one of the reasons they impound the cars is to get them off the road to try to decrease possible accidents, etc... to try to help protect everyone..., in some states if you are caught driving in bad weather without tires that have the snowflake inside the mountain symbol they will ticket you and potentially impound the car for safety, etc... and not wanting to have cars blocking the roads, etc..

They CAN do this yes but what @ProZach626 meant is that they don't. Or shouldn't because this is America.. you technically have a right to be stupid and while I may not like it I'll respect it.

I believe Subarus race in the woods and snow with DSG transmissions? I think it has been proven many times that DSG cars are faster than manual gearboxes and more reliable... I have advised and tested many car brands for winter driving with ice and snow tires.... not just BMW... Years ago I had a Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX with great winter wheels and snow/ice tires I drove in VT that was a fantastic winter car.. oh well... I'm sure somebody will buy these tires when their's wear out (sooner than they expected....)

It's not about the transmission. This is what all of you younger drivers don't get. You know how many people I've seen spin a ugly g chassis BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE A CLUTCH TO DECOUPLE THE ENGINE FROM THE WHEELS! It's.. how you control spinning like that. Or I do*. When it's extreme break and you gotta j turn it.

I know this is an older thread, Face book subaru groups just suck, they have melted the brains of the newbies about these Dunlops. people fail to realize the limits of a summer performance tire. with that said they basically killed any real sale for these tires because the internet regurged that they are junk... Good grief man.
