2.0l - you DO NOT have mechanical boost creep as indicated in this topic. You should be able to run a DP with no tune. There is something else going on.

You should start a thread and give all the details and we'll sort this out for you.

You are looking for things like a vac. leak between the compressor and the waste gate actuator, overtightened WGA, etc.

I had this question posted in another post, but, it could get better answered here. Ive experienced boost creep several times since the cold weather has come in. Im running a 38mm ewg already with a grimmspeed ebcs to assist in maintaining boost. The system has been protuned for all my mods accordingly but recently i overboosted and got fuel cut. Cel code p0244 came on, but, was cleared and car was reflashed. Target boost is 18.5 psi and ive been hitting anywhere from 19.3-19.8 psi more recently. Car runs good now but i dont need this to be a reoccuring thing everytime i wanna have alittle fun. What can i do to avoid creep/overboost and fuel cut.

Fortunately, you do not have 'mechanical" boost creep. You simply need to have your map looked at and tweaked to solve the problem. Wastegate duty cycles and all that - they just touch up your boost control or temp. compensation and it should work out great. Tuners can't necessarily predict what will happen in the cold with a particular car. I'd think about maybe saving the map version you have and using it just in the summer as well (unless they can handle it with just temp. compensation which will reverse itself when it warms back up).

To "avoid" it shift more often - don't start from low RPM in a tall gear (e.g. 4th-5th) and pull it all the way to the top. Us up the top end of 3rd first so you start higher in 4th....

my 02 recently had the same issue as mycologist but mine is tapped on my gauge keep getting the code if I don't feather the throttle and manually force boost to drop
I haven't ever actually had an issue, just FYI. You do not have uncurable mechanical boost creep. with a 2.l because it doesn't ever happen. Make sure you have all of the vacuum lines installed correctly WITH NO LEAKS. Leaks will allow pressure to bleed off before it hits the wastegate actuator, which will cause the wastegate to stay closed, causing boost to spike uncontrollably. This thread deals with the topic when all is right and it still happens.

Hi everyone. Sorry I've read through the thread but I'm still not sure what to do in my situation. I have a 2013 WRX base. I have been running the V2 stage1 91ACN (Arizona) map for a while now. I am about to install an invidia catless downpipe (with proper adapters) and move to the stage 2 91ACN map while still running the stock CBE. Am I in danger of experiencing mechanical boost creep?

Eventually I plan to get a protune done, but I am still a bit new and am not sure this can help with mechanical boost creep.

Sorry to revive such an old thread.

Yes you are and it cannot be tuned out by a protune. An ewg solves the issue
However there's a newer version of catless pipes that don't seem to show these issues

I am experiencing this symptom with my 14 Wrx EJ255. I am catless at the moment, however will be reinstalling my 3" cat till I get an EWG setup.

Ive got my eye on the Grimmspeed EWG up pipe with 38mm waste gate and an electronic boost controller by COBB or Grimmspeed. I will of course get a protune to work with the AP.
