2007 STi center diff possibly broken?

So while I am backing the car up I hear noise like tire rubbing. The car simply does not want to reverse. When I turn in reverse the tires seem to really chirp almost like a fully locked differential in forward.. This is not limited to the rear tires as I hear the front making noise as well. Any ideas from anyone else? My best idea at this point is to further diagnose a broken center diff.

You know the odd thing is I have a very similar problem with my '07 Limited. Reverse in a straight line is fine but if the DCCD is in AUTO and I turn while reversing I hear a rubbing type sound from the front and the diff seems to bind up, now if you set the DCCD to the most rear selection it almost fixes it completely. Turning while going forward works just fine in any setting, its just turning and reversing, very odd, I am thinking of taking it in. Sadly the Subaru dealership here in McMinnville is worthless. I will probly just end up going up to PRE as those guys are really on top of the game.

Have you played with your DCCD settings?
I havent touched my controller mainly because I dont want to **** the car up worse. When I was at PRE they said my car was mainly RWD with little or no power to the front wheels with the car set on auto.. When I back up and turn the tires act as if the rear diff has a locker they lightly spin (since im going slow) the front sounds like a bad tire rub.

I tracked down the cars supposed first owner who told me that the car did this since brand new, he had the center differential replaced under warranty at 5,xxx miles and it stopped doing it for the rest of the time he owned it (traded it in with a little over 15k on it.)
