hello all, still trying to figure this out after countless research.
car is an 02 wrx and is stock. The car is throwing a cylinder 2 misfire code but that's all.
What the car is doing is it kinda bucks at low rpm(1000-2500) or so but when it gets around 3200-3500 rpm it basically acts like a fuel cut and just accelerates soooo slow in mph and the rpm climbs very slow and has no power. I also don't hear any turbo spool or anything either(I don't have a boost gauge) The car is for sale at a little dealership and for a reasonable price but they don't know anything about these engines so I would like to find out what it is and fix it. What I have came up with from research are below of my best guesses but feel free if you know what it sounds like.

1.dirty MAF
2.bad coil/plug on cylinder 2(I don't think it would cut off boost though would it)
3.boost leak
4.cat pieces lodged in turbo

also I know they said they had to put a new battery in so maybe it needs an ecu reset but I also noticed at first that the two green plugs under dash were pluged in and I saw that and unplugged those since they don't need to be plugged in.
Im lost though on what it could be doing this thanks.

I have read over the misfire thread but a misfire wouldn't cause the car not to make boost. Also I have driven other wrx's that had misfire codes and they didn't do this. So is this possibly a cause of limp mode?

How do you know you are not making boost when you don't even have a boost gauge? And how do you know you are in limp mode? Buy a cheap $10 VAGCOM cable, download Romraider and learn to datalog as well as how to use the Learning View utility. Guessing whats wrong and knowing whats wrong are two different things. Troubleshooting a vehicle is a methodical approach using a logical sequence of testing and validating/verifying data and actions.

Cars do not always react the same for even the same condition/issue. Look at the misfire list. The car can go from running normal with a misfire code to completely not drive-able. If you thing there is an issue with the turbo then first I would pull the downpipe and see how the turbo feels spinning it by hand. Takes 15 minutes to remove the DP
