I'm new to this site so go east on me guys.

I'm looking at getting a WRX within the next 6 months. I've always had a crush on this car and can't wait to get my hands on one. But someone told me a while back that with car buying, "haste makes waste".

Would this be a good deal? I'm entering active military duty soon and have no clue where I could be stationed, so an all-wheel drive car just makes sense to me.

I've read over all of the tips for buying a used car that are located in the site but want to know what a reasonable price range is on an 03-04 WRX is.

And to all you WRX owners, should I throw a lot of money into the car when I first get it, or is the stock WRX excite the driver enough to hold out on mods?

It would honestly depend what you're stepping into the WRX from, to be honest. A lot of people do the StageII (TBE+EM) upgrade, and are content with that. A modified car is worth less than a stock car, so if you do decide to mod it, keep all stock parts so you can return it back to stock when you decide to sell it (and then sell the aftermarket parts).

That all depends on what you're expecting from the car and what you're used to driving. I was stuck in a POS Cavalier for 5 years, so I still get excited just thinking about driving my WRX! I have a 2004 WRX and live in Nebraska...so AWD is the way to go out here. Love it in the snow and on dry pavement.

I will be modding it, but starting off light ... UP/DP/Cobb Stage 1 and then we'll see from there. :)

Buying a modded wrx may be cheaper in the short run as you will not have to pay for parts, but modded ones tend to have history of hard driving. I bought mine stock but I wanted a dd. It is very reliable but the modded ones look great and seem be easily available.

But I say go with a stock one.
