I know the tranny will go first if driven hard but whats the average max horse power and torque the stock motor will put up with? I looking for near 400 whp without having to build the motor yet. Going to start puttuing away for a new tranny. Anyways. And what turbo would get me there with TBE and tune? 18g or 20? or something else. would it handle a gt30r if not driven too hard? thanx.

18g might get you there but if your looking to do it on stock motor get head studs and atleast a headgasket. 20g would be alittle better IMO or check out this turbo Deadbolt SuperZilla SZ49 it will make 450 easily and can run up to 30 psi and free rebuilds for life which is a plus. the trans will go but if you drive it like a normal person and dont rip through gears/launch/drag race etc. youll be ok untill you can afford a new trans

Rather then settling on a horsepower number you must have I'd go stage 2 and drive that for a bit. That's plenty fast for a street car IMHO. If after that you still need more then I'd say a 20g.
Neither a 18g or a 20g is going to make 400 horsepower. GT35R with meth should. To do it safely you'd have 4-8 grand in a tranny and probably atleast 8-12 grand in a motor. Just something to think about.

yeah for real... a wrx with some supporting mods is no joke eaither... i settled for a safe reliable set-up that produces good number ( and was cheap to build)....sometimes you just gotta ask yourself when enough is enough

Yeah 400 might be extreme. Ill be happy when im putting down a little over 300 to the wheels.. And that wont be hard. I just rode in my buddies all-wheel drive DSM eclipse with a gt30r lol. And it was nothing short of sick. Right at 400 horse power on stock engine and tranny. And has been running this settup for months. Thats all i was asking for.

Get a protuned StageII setup. Skip the AP and get an open-source tune. See how that feels. If you still need more, look into meth/alcohol injection. Protuned StageII / StageII+meth will be enough for most people.
