i have 225 50 r 16 on my wrx 05 rims u probly could go with 235 look at the tires recomended rims size and that will tell u

 

The stock 2006 STI comes with 215/45/17 does anyone know if you can fit a 225/35/17 and have no problems with it?

they downed the size on the 06 STi? my 05 came with 225/45/17.

i'm sure the 06 STI comes with 225s ... the 06 WRX has 215s. you can fit 235s. the S204 uses 18x8.5 wheels with 235/40/18 and as far as i know they have the same wheel well clearance as the STI and don't roll fenders.

 

So I could fit a 235/40/17's on my 2006 STI? anyone confirm this.......

 

i thought from 05+ they came with 17x8 bbs wheels? thats why the 225 looks a little stretched over the rim than on the 04 sti

 

i got a set of free winters, but they were in the 235/45/17 size, but i haven't noticed ANY issues with rubbing, bottoming out, etc.

 

You should be fine. General rule of thumb is not to exeed or go less than an inch to an inch and a half past/under your rim width compared to your tire inner lip width.

I have an 06 STI and it comes with 225/45/17, I was thinking of going with 235/40/17 but it will slightly change your gearing. If you check on this site:

According to the site, the stock setup has a tire diameter of 24.97, the 235 setup will give you a diameter of 24.4, thus slighly lowering your gearing. It says that when your speedo shows you are going 65 you are actually going 63.5. Marginal difference, but something to consider.

 

all STi's come with 225-45-17....235-45-17 will fit without issues.
I've seen people go with 255-40-17 on their stock BBSs on STi pink springs.
