Silicone Radiator Hoses - worth the expense?

Not for rad hoses, no.

I've done the vac hoses but only because I had to.

I'll add something: "stock" truly means "stock."

I've had decent luck with some non-OEM hoses fitting, but the only hoses guaranteed to fit without trimming and prayers are actual Subaru hoses from an online or brick and mortar dealer.

Calvin you've only used one radiator all this time?

I bought my car in July 2002 and I think I am on my fourth radiator.

The first burst and failed within 6K miles, under warranty, a common fault.

The second burst about a decade later I think?

The third I still have but one day it was 48' out, I was stuck in traffic, and the asphalt temperature must have been at least 60' and for the first time ever I saw the needle move on the gauge. Never overheated, but it moved up a few mm until I started rolling again.

I went out and bought a larger all-Al radiator and am using that one ever since, and I kept the OEM third radiator in the garage just in case.
