I got an OEM Subaru Roof Rack for my '21 WRX and I followed the instruction manual for installing them. They give you 4 bolts to secure the roof rack to the car, and I tightened it first by hand with the t30 screw driver and then used a torque wrench set at 60lbs as the manual said to tighten it using a torque wrench between 60-75lbs. THere was no click on the torque wrench and I felt like something was wrong so I stopped, and loosened it a bit but wanted to inspect the bolt hole in the roof as I felt something was off. I took them off and saw that there was like a cylinder like of threading loose when I took the bolts off. I tried putting the bolt back in it and tightening it by hand and now it won't stay in/grip. I switched bolts and now suddenly, it works but I'm not sure if it's safe as I cannot test if it's set at 60lbs or if the threading is secure. Obviously one bolt is damaged but one bolt hole may also be damaged. I can't rip it off when I grab it, but I don't want it to fly off on the highway. I don't know what to do, or if I can even use a roofrack anymore if the threading is sketchy.
I feel like an idiot.
