I suspect you'd be hard pressed to provide me evidence of a truly "unreliable" engine produced in the last 15 years.

The question these days is... is the engine capable of surviving the abuse and neglect of the owner?
Two situations occurred this month in a town of 480ish people. One fa24 blew at 18,000, the guy told me it burnt a quart of oil every 2000 miles from the factory. Now my 2008 narrowbody has an EJ, and my EJ doesn’t burn a half a quart in 2000 miles and she has 189,000. Literally my car doesn’t drip, smoke, or burn oil. Try telling me the new motors are better. We all saw the death of the WRX when we saw the death of the EJ

The other guy works as the bank teller, guy has a 2018 WRX, had a piston ring failure before 30k
