Hi all i was wondering if there is a difference from left to right side cv axles for my STI (2004) or are they the same for both. My real question is do i ask for new cv axle for one side or the other or are they both identical? please let me know, thanks.

not 100% but I'm pretty sure they're the same. Check with wrx-tx.com they sell axles and would probably be able to tell you.

It shouldn't make a difference, but this is a unique question as I've never seen axles ordered one by one. Every place I've ever seen that you can buy these from sells them as a pair.
Are you upgrading or repairing a broken axle? If upgrading, consider just a bar upgrade, as the CV is pretty stout, and it is usually the bar that twists and snaps.

thanks

thanks for the response. I am replacing a broken cv joint, the axle(shaft) is fine, I have a very driven Subaru(1000+ miles per week). I had the passenger side done last winter, now the drivers side went. It was clicking for awhile now, then the other night it sounded like pieces were flying out of the boot itself, I am getting it changed on Tuesday. Only thing is my replacement axle is a bit smaller in the shaft diameter, everything else is the same.
Any advice on replacement struts

The shaft is smaller, but the spline is the same size? Wierd. If it is smaller than stock, might want to reconsider, as and STi is capable of twisting the bar off easily.

As for struts, stockers are fine, and you can often find deals on this board and others for used struts when others upgrade, or even on upgrade struts when others part out. I favor tried and true (SPT, Tien, Cobb, etc) but this would best be answered in the suspension forum (do we still have that????)
