I drive... drove a 2018 FA20 WRX, had stage 2 IAG block, and after about 50k miles on this block, pistons turned out to be damaged, with minor scratches to the sleeves. I can find built blocks from $4500 to $5100, but I can find a FA24 for less lol has anyone tried this swap? I JUST bought a hybrid turbo for the FA20, and REALLY wanted to use it, but it's not the same bolt pattern as the FA24 turbo, so I'd probably have to fabricate J pipe and Header... idk just throwing this out there since I'm saving up for a block.
Pros staying FA20
Cons of staying FA20
- Regrets of not having FA24 lol
Pros to going FA24
- power potential is insane especially for track use

I know this is a lot, but I don't see much on this so just curious to what people might have heard or seen, and if anyone with knowledge on the 2 engines, it would mean a lot if you can help me learn a little about this. Much appreciated 🙏🏽

Pros staying FA20
- Have every bolt on already on the car, would just have to rebuild motor and bolt it back in
- Much cheaper I believe even with block price being high

- how much fab might be required
- potential total cost of making this engine work
- Losing the BRZ Intake manifold 😢
