Hey ya'll my husband and I need some help. My husband owns a 2016 subaru sti. Little back story last year after just buying it, it blew a rod barring and we had to get a completely new engine for the car. Since we have had it back (about a year now) it had not had any big issues, it ran wonderfully. Last night while driving home (just driving not doing pulls, not pushing, it not even going over 60 miles an hour) the engine locked up and it killed. We had been having cam sensor codes being thrown the past month or so. We had the codes go off before it died and it threw itself into limp mode. We where able the get the engine to unsezes, but it still won't start. It sounds like it really want to it just won't fire up. We are thinking it mostly jumped a timing belt. But we are already $37,000 in debt on this damn car and I am just looking for any possible that won't lead to another complete rebuild. Please any input you have or any ideas of what else it could be it's helpful.

The cam sensor error is concerning. If it did break the belt or jump timing the valves can be hit with the piston. The belt should have been replaced when the engine itself was replaced.

Cam sensor error can also be from oil issues, low pressure or high pressure.

If you pull the dipstick what does the oil level look like?

Have you tried draining the oil and looking for shiny glitter?
