Hi guys, first time posting here! Nice to be apart of a WRX community and happy Father's Day to all those celebrating!

A few days ago, my search for audio upgrades began when my front, driver side speaker blew. After doing a little research, I discovered the existing system requires additional steps to upgrade and I'm not sure I feel like investing the time to do so. Listed below are the options I'm considering and would greatly appreciate any input you guys could provide:

1. Replace the front door speakers with similar performing or the oem speakers
2. Replace the front speakers and amp
3. Replace the front speakers, amp and head unit
4. Go all out and overhaul the entire system, new HU, speakers, add a subwoofer

Is there an option I'm missing?

I am leaning towards option 2, but from what I'm reading, option 3 might make the most sense.

For those of you who have dealt with the harman kardon setup, what do you guys think?

Thank you!

Better question: What do YOU think needs improvement in the current system? If nothing is bothering you, then a replacement OEM speaker is the cheapest and most sensible option.

Adding an aftermarket amp will involve some PITA wiring and weird brackets/boxes. OEM kicker amp in trunk and upgraded HU will give you decent improvement in sound quality with the least amount of install effort. Crutchfield & Metra have harnesses and frames to make some aftermarket HUs fit flush and work with steering controls and backup camera.

I'd like improved eq controls, sound quality, and volume (nothing crazy on the volume). I've also come across the Idoing head unit which seems like the way to go. All plug and play without the need for additional harnesses. I'm just not sure how that would then integrate with the existing HK system if I were to install new front door speakers and an amp. I don't need a sub but I do want a crisp/clean/punchy sounding system.
