So I was got to my friends house to play poker lastnight, closed the doors, hit the lock button on the key fob... nothing. (just got the car Aug 30th batteries can't be dead) So I open the driver door, lock the doors manually, unlock them then lock them and close the door. No beep. Then I open the door w/ the key, start the car , unlock the passanger door manually, open and shut it turn off the car, then lock the doors, close the car it beeps. I think ok whatever at this point.

I get done playing poker hit the unlock button... nuttin happens. I think, ok fine whatever, I use my key and unlock the door... alarm goes off. I hit the buttons on the key fob nothing happens. Cars going Ape **** at this point. Try to start it nothing, hit the flashers (i don't know why seemed like the logical thing to do) slammed the buttons on the key fob alarm stops and car starts. ??????????????WTF?????????????

Any ideas at all?

The beep thing is very picky. Many STI owners on nasioc have it come and go as it pleases. You can disable it according to your owners manual.

The alarm is probaly something to do with your imoblizer. Do you have another imbolizer key next to your wrx key? The chips might be playing games with each other. Did your key get really wet recently? This is why we have warranties and it's really hard for subaru to blame this on aggresive driving.

I have another key next to it, but its like a house key, not a car key or anything.

The Beep not Beeping is extreamly common. The other one is a little harder to trouble shoot. It's probaly the chip going bad, I know my valet key sets off the alarm each time it unlocks the doors but my 2 regular keys do not.

Ok so here's an update. After that incident I drive it all over stopped, shopped, went about normal stuff.. NO problems. I went back over to my friends house today, parked it in the same spot... and what do you know... it wouldn't lock LOL :rotfl: Same exact problem as before. So i stood there a few seconds like WTF? I put the key next to the key fob and hit lock... it locked NP. Am I crazy? It only seems to happen in that one spot. Would it matter that its on a slight incline to the passenger side pointing down hill?

I had the SAME exact problem happen to me in my 06 WRX. This was after only 3k miles on the car too. Car locked okay at first but realized I left something in it so I went to unlock it and it wouldn't work. I used the key and the alarm went off. I couldn't shut it off at first but eventually did after pressing the button a bunch of times.

This only happened to me that one time and as a matter of fact, the car was on a slight decline. Strange...

Ok I know my key FOB is very picky. You can hit the button a few times and nothing. I think you guys are having the same issue. My button is messed up and you can feel the difference between pushing it and no chirp and pushing it with the chrip. It's like the sensor in the FOB is moving around and not sitting under the button (if that makes sense).

I have the same problem. I usually just push it a few times (sometimes 4-5 times) and it works. Very strange. I think it probably is a problem with the FOB itself.

Ive had similar problems, but not identical. My alarm seems to beep at random. Sometimes it beeps when it arms, but doesnt when it disarms, sometimes it beeps on disarm when it didnt when i locked/armed it. I know the fop button works, because my lights still blink once to lock/arm twice to unlock/disarm. Also if i repeatdly hit the button the "parking lot locator horn" function works. But what is worring me is that when i arm the car and it doesnt beep, ive opened my trunk with the key which normally sets off the alarm, but doesn't. Does anyone know if this is a loose wire issue, or is there a 9v battery backup?

Ive got a 2006 Impreza WRX. I also had the "upgraded" motion sensor alarm installed when i bought the car from the factory.

any ideas where to look to fix this?
