so the front door speakers are 4" and the rear ones are 5 1/4". i bought two of each size and then i started looking around at tutorials on how to take the door panels off safely and how to replace the speakers. I noticed that the speakers and the mounts only have 3 holes for screws to hold them in... i thought most if not all speakers/mounts had four. the speakers i have purchased have four holes and im not sure what i can do to install them properly. anyone else run into this problem? let me know of any solutions.

Thanks

what year wrx? i assume an early one?

i think you had the sizes backwards my 03 had 5.25" in the front and 4" in the rear. and yes the stock speakers have 3 screws holding them in for some reason

to get around this you can either make an adapter or buy one

i bought these adapters
Complete Speaker Adapter Kit Subaru 96-07, Saab 9-2x IA Performance
with these i was able to put 6.5" in the front and 5.25" in the rear, very worth the money if you ask me.

and welcome to the forum!... although i'm pretty new too

My kenwoods are holding quite well with three screws. No rattling or anything.
