Hi. Just brought a 2008 2.5 WRX (First of the Hatchback shapes). Owners book says engine oil should be 5w30 and then a string of specifications. I have hunted all the main oils for these specs but can find only one and that has only 1 of the list given. This is Millars 5w30 XF Longlife ECO complies with API SL.

I'm sure there must be other suitable oils out there. Is the Subaru list really necessary or just the usual ploy to get your Oil changes done at a Subaru dealers?

Opinions and suggestions gratefully received. Cheers. ****.

You can buy Subarus oil it's a fair price and change it yourself.

I personally was using rotella t6 5w40 but they have changed the formula for newer standards and from what i understand it's not quite as long lasting. Motul and Pennzoil also make suitable oil.

Mobile 1 and Castrol have both seen mixed uoa results when used in turbo applications.
