looking at either the star specs or the RS-3's for my '11 wrx. seem to be tires for both summer and auto-x. the question is, how wide should i go? there is a guy in my region running 255's. seems so wide, but he didn't mention rubbing. so, should i go as wide as a 255 or just go with a 245/40? thanks in advance.

Make sure the 255 are not going to put you in a different class for auto-x. I know they have some restrictions.

The correct size for an 8" is 235, you could go 245. I personally wouldn't use a 255 on an 8" wide rim. You can do it, and it has been done, I'd just rather step to an 8.5" at minimum

Seems to be that you can put as wide as will fit on a stock width wheel and stay in stock class. Just wondering if I should go as wide as possible, or just go with the 245

Star Specs tend to run wide, so I wouldn't go above 245.
