Every time I take my 2013 STi out for a drive , any other WRX drivers always wave and smile ...just yesterday a guy in a 07 STi slowed down and waved me onto the freeway ..how nice ! He didn't have to slow , I had plenty of power to merge !

On my way back up MN while driving a moving truck with my WRX on a trailer, I got escorted for a bit by some evos and on another day a boss mustang passed me with a huge thumbs up.

Those BMW like WRXers are a pita. You can find several on nazioc I mean NASIOC, sorry typo.

I've noticed lately women driving the WRXs and they don't wave back, I got the bird from one though but she declined the offer

Yeah the nice ones are a dying breed...though it started happening with GRs, once the 2015s came out, it was in rapid decline.

It's really funny, when I had my 2 BMW's I thought all other BMW drivers were a**holes except me, but with my WRX's I just assume they're cool people. They always wave back...

BTW spotted a WRX wagon in the wild on a TV show--Last Tango in Halifax, great British soap opera if you like that kind of stuff and my S/O sure does. (Available on Netflix, with the great Derek Jacobi, highly recommended.) The car is driven by a young punk named Paul, who has an affair with one of the central female characters twice his age despite being engaged. Then, Paul gets beaten up by his fiancé's relatives, who don't appreciate his dinking around with other ladies. It's pretty car the car is supposed to suggest something about the character's character...LOL...

Subaru has offered an automatic in the car since 2002. Out of curiosity, why do you believe that the CVT option makes a difference?

Yeah, I agree. The community has been a downward slide since 2009.

Around here, WRX/STI drivers just make you roll your eyes... weaving in and out of traffic, revving at stoplights...I imagine this is a product of the amount of money in the area -- most WRX/STi drivers seem to be in their young 20s.

I don't know that I've seen the later model "douche" effect, locally. I noticed that the waves got less frequent, but figured it was just a symptom of the car being a little more "mainstream". It coincided with people on the forum starting to complain more about the car not being luxurious enough, etc. That really confused me, at the time..

I'm talking about WRXs. I know they had 2.5GT Impreza that were older WRX motors with a 4EAT that are barely seen. I should've phrased it more towards the welcome gestures of waving or flashing lights at other WRXs saying 'hey!'. Essentially brought in people who lack this knowledge of the community. But also opened up the door to rivers who can't drive stick to come in and rip around the highway. I'm in Jersey, could just be here

There were plenty of 4EAT WRX's built, 2002-2007, the Impreza GT didn't happen 'til after that. One of the founders of this forum back in 2001 (Verdugo) was as enthusiastic an owner as you can imagine; drove an auto WRX. I visited him and saw his excellently-modified car in Seattle, while there on business. It's tricky, when you start generalizing. We've had numerous members that had autos because their spouse doesn't drive stick, and they needed to share the car.

Oh damn my bad. Didn't even know they made the 4EAT ones that far back, figured it was offered later on as the 2.5GT. Thanks for the knowledge :)

Huh, most of the 2015+ owners I see around me drive like BMW drivers: weaving through traffic like they own the highway.

Most of the bugeyes I see now are stanced or beat to **** or both. :(

When I owned WRX's, I got some varied responses from other import folks. BOV pop-offs, revving, as well as friendly waves. Back when the "Subaru vs. Mitsubishi" thing was big, my wife and I were gassing up, and a young guy filling up his Evo nearby threw us the "stinkeye", and then sortof a passive-aggressive "up-nod" with is head.

My wife and I are middle-aged folks, we just cracked up. "Did that guy just give you an aggressive bro-nod, lol?". He turned red and hustled off.
