I am getting a whining under load in 4th and 5th on my '02 sedan with ~20k. I drained the stock oil about a year ago and put in Mobil1. I posted then due to the "extra" bolt I found on the drain plug. Did I mention Mobil1 sucks? I live in podunkville, so I had to get RedLine delivered. Great stuff!! Most of the grinding getting into 1st and reverse immediately went away. The whining started about a month ago...any ideas?

I believe the whinning is due to the thinner gear oil. I also recently switched out to Redline 75w -90 ns and the other day on my way to work noticed the hich pitched whining of the tranny or front diff., Guy at the shop thought it might be due to thinner gear oil, I am convinced this is most likely the cause. I plan on switching back to regular dealership oil spring/summer to get rid of the whinning and will continue to run sythetic in the winter when shifting with reg oil is a chore.
