I inherited my Dad's 1983 BMW R80RT, and while it's a great bike, it needs a paint refresh. Here's how it sits currently:

The original color was red, but it has faded quite a bit to a "burnt orange" color. My wife has rendered the bike in a number of fantastic colors, some of which are slightly period-correct while others just look good.

Midnight Blue

Forest Green

Burgundy

OEM Red

Crisp Orange

Teal

There's something to be said for OEM.

+1

I'm not a particular fan of red though so if it were me, I would go for WRB! I seriously think that would be pretty.

You know they even make Camaros in that color now :D

My third choice would be the midnight Blue as it is pretty and period correct.:)

I can't vote in this poll as it's invalid, there is no option for boobs.

You must be new here.

I voted for OEM Red

I also cannot vote as there is no bewb option. :(

For the purpose of polls, it is spelled "bewb". I'm sure no one really knows why other than tradition.

I like the wirey (thin spoke) wheels and austere looking fairing, upright like an uptight civc planning board. Didn't Connery ride one of those as Bond? Class bike.

PS: Now that I look at it more... Does it have to be painted? If there are no scratches or bald spots, I kinda like how it has patina now. You might refresh the badges and leave the rest?

What a glorious sound!
I had the choke on when I started shooting the video, but you can hear the idle pick up towards the end of the video.

Actual idle is a bit lower than what you hear in the video. My limitation with bringing down the idle is actually the generator... I think it will need to be replaced in the near future.
