This seems like a pretty big deal, so I hope there's some responses to this. For '05, Subaru made the WRX bolt pattern 5x114.3...which I thought would give a wider choice range for wheels...but I'm having a lot of difficulty finding hubcentric 5x114.3's that have a big enough offset for the WRX (~48-53mm). Please let me know what wheels you've all seen availible in that pattern and offset. 17's or 18's.

There are dozens of wheels in this bolt pattern. You're right, though, the offset is generally less than 48 mm.

FWIW, 2 of the best wheels, the Volk TE37 and LE37T both come in sizes that will fit the 05 STI with a correct offset.

I had an 03 WRX with rota torques on it. I just traded it in for an 05 WRX and the wheels fit fine. They are the same. Only the STi has a different size. At least thats what I experienced and saw at the dealership two weeks ago.
