1990 240SX
I picked it up for $1500. It was in good cosmetic shape, but had a blown Headgasket and an Auto Transmission. At the time, a few of my friends/roomates also had 240s, so we did a ton of work together on our cars.

First thing I did was fix the Headgasket, then convert the auto to manual, which was surprisingly easy to do. We then upgraded the shocks and brakes, and finally swapped the engine for a SR20DET! We did all of the work ourselves, and in the end, we had replaced almost every major part of the car!

Here is the list of Mods:

Engine:
SR20DET (Blacktop) from a 98 TypeX about 60k mi
FMIC
Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator w/Gauge
Exeedy Stage 1 Clutch (about 10k mi on it)
Apexi Hybrid Megaphone Cat Back Exhaust (3 -> 3.5" ; Very quiet but sounds aggressive)
Apexi SAFC
Walbro Fuel Pump
Boost Gauge
AEM Wideband O2 Sensor
Goodspeed Down pipe
B&M Short Shifter
Nismo Polyurethane Engine & Transmission Mounts
S13 VLSD

Suspension:
KBY AGX Adjustable Struts (4 way Front, 8 Rear)
Eibach Prokit Springs
Front Tien Adjustable Camber mounts
Front and Rear Strut Tower Braces
Nismo Front Power Brace
5 lug conversion
S14 Front Wheels, Z32 Rear Wheels (BF Goodrich GForce Tires with Good Tread)

Brakes:
Z31 New OEM Break Master Cylinder
Stainless Braided Break Lines
Z32 Calipers and Rotors (Front)
Rear Rebuilt S13 Calipers

Misc:
S14 Front Seats

Sadly, as I got older, I no longer had space for the 240, and it sat for so long outside it started growing moss and the interior started getting moldy. I couldn’t stand to see it sit like that so I ended up selling it.

2013 Toyota 4Runner SR5:
My last car was a 2013 4Runner SR5, which I mostly got because I have 3 kids in carseats, and I needed something bigger to accommodate them. It was a good vehicle, in many ways, but I felt so bored and disconnected from the driving experience. It had a very lethargic 5-Speed Auto, and horrible body roll in the mountain back roads I take to work.

When I figured out I could fit 3 Carseats across in the back row of a new WRX, I sold the 4Runner, and put in an order for a 2016 WRX Limited 6MT! Finally I will be back in something fun again, where I can shift my own gears!

While waiting for the WRX to arrive, I am “stuck” driving this 2001 AMG S55…. Back in 2001 it was $101k new, but after 15 years and 150k miles, it is probley worth only $8k now. This thing is ridiculous in so many ways! Its 5.4L V8 puts out 354hp and 390torques, and it’s ABC (Hydrolic) Suspension reduces body roll by 90+%. Keeping flat in a tight corner, with such a big car feels pretty unnatural!

Before I got my 02 WRX I drove a ford Fusion, in the most over produced color possible; White.
It was a meh car, had no soul, no real thrill to drive either. More of a cruiser car than what I wanted. So after a front end accident, to the core radiator support I later found out, I decided it was time to drop it like a rock. Picked up the WRX and sold the Fusion with 46k on the clock, haven't looked back since. Granted I've only had the WRX a few weeks, so we'll see how it goes. Hopefully it turns out to be a good investment.

So far though, I'm loving it. The power is great, gas is decent, and the car has quite a bit of soul. Just what I was looking for.

I miss the Bullitt it just had an intangible feeling about it but I still quite enjoy the WRX, wish I had more money to mod it!
