I Checked the trans (2005 5mt) and nothing was on the stick. Its at 63xxx. I was reading about the USC but it seems the qtys of redline is different in all mixes. Most I found this:

1 qt Syncormesh fluid (pennsoil, gm or amsoil)
1 qt redline lightweight shockproof
2 qt castrol Hypoy C 80w 90 gear oil.

Is this the best way to go?
It seems most of this is all preference, any opinions would help.

Also, subaru doesnt say anything about changing trans or gear fluid.
Is this recomended. I drive spirted generally, no major mods..will have tbe and ap next spring. Mostly highway.

Thanks

This is a correct formula. Buy ingredients and put it in.

I would change the fluid every 30k miles minimum with spirited driving. If you have no fluid on the stick I would stop driving it until I added something.

FYI: I changed mine out in my 06 at 15k miles and noticed a big difference.

The only other oil I would use in the tranny is the Subaru Synthetic stuff, but currently its only available mail order and in a 30 gallon drum.

yep.

I wouldnt drive without topping it off, but if its not even on the stick, chances are you are a few qts low anyways.

Might as well just park it and run out and buy the cocktail ingredients and do it.
