Hi Everyone. Just bought my first Subaru and so far liking it. I wanted a 2nd car that was capable of also doing Mammoth trips during the winter. So its the base WRX that came with 17". I just swapped the tires out with BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2 A/S. I'm guessing they will be fine for Mammoth? Typical temps in my area (Ventura County) is pretty warm year around so didn't want to be swapping tires all the time. I also have an M4 that I drive so not worried about decreased performance on the tires. Will most likely buy an different summer wheels and tire later but just wondering if my local tire guy gave me bad advise on the a/s tires and should have just gotten winter tires. Will be heading up to Mammoth next week and bit worried since you can't run chains? Any advise will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have been up to Mammoth in winter in a front wheel drive rental car. No Problems. It all depends on road conditions at the time, though. In general you'll be OK on the all seasons and awd.

I use all-seasons so that I can go to the mountains on occasion. In this area it makes zero sense to use winters.

Thanks! I was up there a few weeks ago in a 2wd truck and it was a bit hairy. Needed chains. I ordered 2 sets of snow socks to keep in the car just in case I get pulled over. Hopefully that would be good enough if needed.
