I just sold my SUNW stock for a nice profit.

I put my money intto DELL, TXN, and NSANY. (Dell, Texas Instruments and Nissan Motor Co.)

They are treating me right so far. I expect great things from TI in coming months and the success of the 350Z, the G35, the new Altima, Sentra, and Maxima made me sink my teeth into a slow moving Nissan stock price. It just rises gradually. A good sign!!!

I wish could trade FHI on Datek, but it won't allow OTC stocks. Is anyone trading on FUJHY? IF so, how?

I'm sure I don't need to tell you this, but what the market will do depends heavily on what goes down in Iraq. If we end up seeing Desert Storm II, I wouldn't expect to see much in the way of gains on anything (except maybe defense industry stocks) for at least 1.5-2 years. It might not be a bad idea to hedge with a few of those.

Good luck...

I don't think the market will recover until the real estate market tanks nationwide. That's just my opinion though.

is that all.... I know what you mean, I'm tired of lossing money myself. I do believe that it'll recover, I just think that it'll take a little longer than what the "experts" have told us. As long as people don't freak out and pull their money out altogether, we'll be OK.

NSANY - Well, I'm also a fan of Nissan, but fundamentally the stock probably won't do too well over the next 12 to 18 months. There are not ANY analysts that favor the stock right now. They have come a long way to keep themselves from going bankrupt, but $15 a share is all it will be worth for a while. Technical analysis says the same thing right now. It is not a buy.

DELL - If you must be in this area of tech stocks, DELL is the one to buy, but don't expect huge gains out of it anytime soon either. This is a bad sector to be invested in right now.

TXN - We(can't say who) rate it a medium risk BUY. I would agree. Technical analysis also agrees. The stock has strong support(in demand).

FUJHY - Stay away from them. Just b/c Subaru, a relatively small part of the company, is doing good doesn't mean the company is growing in a way that would influence it's stock price. Not a good investment.

You shouldn't (hopefully don't) have all your money invested in only those three stocks. Those are all medium to high risk investments and you're not diversified at all. Might as well go hit the casinos.

Thanks, Chad. I think I made some good calls. I have a 401(k) set up conservatively. There are my "Toy stocks." :D

What about GM, FHI's parent company?

GM is rated at Medium risk - outperform...meaning outperform the sector. It's price target is $57. It is probably one of the better auto stocks to own right now....along with Toyota(TM) which has a price target of $67, rated at a buy - high risk...meaning it appears to be more volitale.

I wanted to invest in Nissan as well, but all the signs say not to. They themselves are even forcasting decreased earnings per share each year over the next three years. They need to be showing growth.

Chad,

With all due respect: Nissan is going to explode in the next three years. Mark my words: the new Skyline Chassis is AMAZING, the new Q45 and the Maxima are AWESOME. The 350Z will succeed and Nissan will rise again.

Atleast, I damn well hope they do.

Thanks for the GM tip.

Jim, I couldn't agree more about their product line, but the stock and the companies overall earnings do not SKYROCKET when a few new cars hit the road. They need sustained high sales to increase earnings per share. I know the company very well, inside and out, and trust me, from an investors point of view, it is nothing more than a so-so investment right now.

Many factors go into a companies bottom line. It isn't all about how amazing us enthusiasts think the new products are. It's about costs of development and production...which need sustained sales numbers in order to benefit. They need to re-coup the costs of development and building new lines etc. before major profits will be seen.

I am optimistic of their chances, but people that are WAY WAY smarter than you or I seem to think it is going to be a while before the company fully benefits from all the progress they are making.

Since the whole dot com boom has come and gone. I can almost guarantee you the next new phase of businesses or industries to come up soon will be in the Biotech/Medical Device industries. Companies like Guidant, Boston Scientific, Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic are buying up start up companies left and right and giving these companies sometimes 2 for 1 and even 3 for 1 profits for the shareholders. I know. I have been working for the medical device industry for the last 12 years and have already profited from being bought by a larger company. Now I am at a SMALL COMPANY with less than 25 employees. And we will probably be bought soon. Sorry though. My little company is not on Wall Street yet. Just a little inside scoop.

IMO, Subaru and Nissan have the best engineers running right now. Toyota and Honda are playing catchup. Check this.

Japanese Chassis

Japanese Engines

If you are an SAE member, you already have these articles. They are AWESOME!!!! I'll scan a few short excerpts.

Again, I'm not disagreeing with you about the future of these companies, but from an investors point of view, non of that matters...not really. All that matters is growth in profits.
Now, one could assume that since Subaru and Nissan have the best engineers, they might end up with the best profits...but we know that isn't true. THere are too many other factors. Anyway....I hope you are right Jim. I've always been a big Nissan fan and I hope they take off!

I dropped everything and picked up GM.

New rule: Never buy on Thursday!!! All the daytraders cash out on Friday. Oh well, live and learn. I like there longer term outlook.

Trailing stops on Datek ARE AWESOME!!! No more sitting in front on Streamer ALL DAY!!! :D

Does that put Dell in the category of consistently rising stocks? Would they be a good first investment?
