Ok now that I have a "weak" single port wastegate of about 12psi (spring only) I am able to control boost and get some taper but it's not too bad all-in-all. I will just let the datalogs do the talking. Now keep in mind I am using the sea level calibration of the MAP sensor so the boost numbers you see are actual sea level equivalent boost levels (IE: to get boost gauge readings up here add about 3.5psi to the numbers you see to get an idea of the relative amount of boost I am running at 6000ft. above sea level). ALSO keep in mind that I saw about 500-600 engine rpm LESS lag at sea level on my VF22 so this 18G should see a similar effect.

The first log is just of a roll on in 3rd gear on level ground. I stopped where I did becuase I fit fuel cut :). As you can see I hit a peak boost value of about 19.6psi which means my boost gauge was showing about 22-23psi and my AVC-R reported 1.55-1.60 kg/cm2.

This last log is to show what kind of response the turbo has from a higher rpm roll on. This was while I was in 3rd gear around 4000rpm and punching it. As you can see I hit the gas around 4200rpm and by about 4600rpm I went from vacuum to about 23psi (relative autometer gauge indicated).

All in all not to shabby if you ask me :). Like I said there is still some taper but I think that can be rectified with going with a stiffer springed wastegate. I am acutally planning on getting one in a couple of weeks with a spring tension of about 18psi. That should get me a nice 21-22psi to redline ;), instead of this wimpy 18-19psi to redline stuff [heh].

Awesome! Doesn't look like lag is THAT bad and your IDC #'s are so low for that much flow! Have you played with the fuel map a lot to get your duty cycles down?

Yah I think you can see in the second log around 6700rpm I am up at about 89% duty cycle on the injectors and that is only with 15psi (sea level equivalent) 18-19psi up here on the boost gauge. Which means if I can get the boost to hold to about 20-21psi I will be close to maxing out the stock injectors on a sea level equivalent of 16-17psi. That is with the a/f around 10.2-10.5ish I think it is up top = pretty rich.

And remember take those "lag" numbers and subtract about 500-600rpms for sea level boost response.

David - that is awesome spool up. Definitely a few hundred RPMs sooner than the '22 which is pretty darn impressive for a turbo that can flow 150CFMs more.

My TD05H cores are here finally. I had made up my mind on the 18G, but after seeing your logs I'm thinking that the 20G might be worth a shot. The big-16G that I'm having built for someone else is going to be one hard hitting s.o.b. that's for sure.

Thanks for obliging me with the logs, btw!

I know you had minor issues with the coolant bosses and lines with your 18G. However, my cores have all the correct coolant and oil lines/connections present, so fortunately for me that is one less thing to worry about. :)

I really think it is going to be an interesting year at Bandi. Looks like there will be a shortage of trannys here in the mile hi city! Better get my order in for a new one before you guys. :p

I've heard that the 17c will tax the sti injectors to about 85-90% @ 17psi when trying to maintain a 11.1 a/f.
I will be able to verify more after I hit the dyno and check my a/f

Also, can you believe mine is still not here....oh well should be here this weekend.

In those logs I was running STi injectors, GSS342 walbro and stock fuel lines. It was tuned for mid 10:1 a/f range heading to 10.2:1 at redline. I don't know if it shows in those logs but the highest I have seen duty cycles out my car and injectors to date is low 90% range.

Um not to much else. WHat other information would you like to know? I had this done custom/first so I paid a little more than others would I think. If you want pricing I would suggest calling Jim at TEC at 1800-950-turbo.
