Noob here. The numbers seem low? Have the WRX numbers been in decline?
Yes and no. This generation sold better than ever, but it's sales are starting to wane as people wait for the new generation.

Even on good months i have no idea how they can afford to maintain sales of the brz and wrx/sti

You are stricken with a cognitive bias that has always seemed to affect WRX/STI owners.

The "performance" Subarus have always made up under 5% of total Sales. You have to understand -- the larger car market generally does NOT care about performance. As an enthusiast, you are a significant minority.

It's always been entertainment for me to watch this cognitive bias play out. Just go back and look through the archives and you'll see "How can Subaru not fix their engine problems? Do they not care?" or "Why is the Impreza on an updated platform but the WRX/STI is not??" or "How could Mitsubishi cancel the Evo??"

It's basic economics friend.
