i just purchased an sti intercooler with the y-pipe for my 04 wrx. i wanted to know if the stock intercooler to throttle body coupler will work with the sti intercooler??

Will it technically work? Yes.

Will it allow you to use the stock mounting brackets on the 04 WRX? No.

because the STi uses drive by wire and the 04 WRX doesn, the throttle body coupler needs to be longer to compensate.

you need a 3" length by 2.75" ID coupler to match up perfectly.

So the correct answer is yes and no.

i actually just put an STI top mount on my wagon about two hours ago. The topmount was off an 04 sti, and my wag is 07, so they are both fly-by-wire. However, my advise is get a silicone Y pipe. the fit will not be 'perfect' but a silicone Y pipe will give you enough flex and play to line everything up.

...I didnt get one, and it was a PITA lining everything up. I had to cock (no gay) the intercooler and clamp the piss out of the turbo outlet elbow, then tilt the intercooler back to line up the mounting bolts...happy with the end result though. good luck.

thanx guys for the info. by the way what does flyby wire mean?? for sure i'm probably gonna go with the silicone hoses.
