my buddy and i were talking about brakes today... we went on a killer monutain drive and when we stopped to chat, our brakes were smoking. :) anyways, what pads come stock on the 04 STi?

and from experience, what are the best replacements? (i've heard good things about the ferrodo ds2500's...)

Don't know how is making the oem pads, but there geared more for quitness, low dusting and low operating temps than performance. The 2500's are a great pad, even track worthy (if you hit the track routinely, you'll want dedicated track pads though). The 2500's also have very wide range of op temps (including cold- important w/ a daily driver), dusting is OK, and they are pretty quiet (I chamfer the leading/trailing edges just like the oem pads- don't know if the STi oem pads are chamfered or not??))

My second WRX and second time around on 2500's:)
