Noise is not heard when the car starts or is running but as soon as you turn on the A/C the noise starts and goes away after 20 sec. While driving with the a/c on there times that the car thumps. Any ideas?

From cheap to expen$ive:

Belt. Replace with an authentic Subaru belt only. Check tension. While the belt is off, check the roller - tensioner thing.

Tensioner. See above.

A/C clutch. Unlikely.

Belt looks fine. You think it might be the tension?
Here's my logic:

Whether the belt looks good or bad, something is making noise.
Adding tension won't fix the problem all that long.
A belt is $20 from the dealer.
Using an imitation / aftermarket belt is questionable.
If it's not the belt, it could be the tensioner roller. The belt has to come off to check that.
Since the belt has to come off to either change the belt or check the tensioner... etc.
On my car, I removed the old belt, checked the roller, installed a new authentic belt, and that's that. It's a $20 ($40 if you do both belts) experiment plus 30 minutes of time.

You can try adding tension and see what happens but mind the tensioner screw and plastic extender thing (you'll see what I mean).
