Ok posting for a friend. He has a 06 STi last weekend we put on the SPT strut tower brace set. He has been noticing a rattling/ vibrating under light acceleration since the install. pulled the rear bar off and it still seems to do it so it is probably coming from the front. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any help.

Yeah I should have mentioned we torqued it to spec and have checked the torque on it just in case. We even went as far as wrapping the AC line in rubber hose to check and it still does it.

Bolts are tight and the brace doesn't move. I am beginning to wonder ig the brace is rubbing the hood.

If everything is tight, you then need to figure out what is it hitting or if the noise isn't something else. Maybe you moved to disturbed something else during the install, or it could be something completely separate that coincidentally started when you installed the strut brace.

Ok so it looks like the intercooler is rattling on the bottom of the bar. Thinking about getting some foam and sticking it onto the bottom of the bar.

A 30K car, has a noise, and it fixed by foam?:confused1
Doesn't seem the best way IMO.

This is by no means the perminent fix but yes. With the brace installed even though there is a 3/4 inch gap at light acceleration from a stop the engine aparently moves enough for the intercooler to hit the bar.

If anyone has any ideas on a perminent fix we are open to suggestions.

Sell it and get sway bars instead.

OR

FMIC + EM

OR

Replace the engine mounts, and wishbone, this may reduce the engine movement enough, but i don't want to promise it to you.

any other ideas?

We double checked the part with SPT it is the right part and the directions show the same bract for all kinds of years and models.

Check the motor mounts and pitch brace to make sure the motor movement is excessive. Take some action in any case, since over time the part that rubs the intercooler will win, meaning the intercooler will lose and end up with an additional opening.
