Sorry if I sound like a noob but I am looking to install a short shifter or short throw shifter on my 2012 wrx hatch... and i got a few questions.

1) I have no idea what the differences are between short throw shifter and short shifter... can anyone tell me the differences are?
2) Cobb vs Kartboy? which one would be better to get?
3) What are bushings? are these required? do they feel better?
4) can someone point me in the right direction in getting any kind of short throw shifters or bushing? (websites and such)

Any input would be great! thanks in advance!

Both replace the lever. Both reduce the "throw". Cobb allows you to adjust the height of the knob as well.

Bushings are the rubber pieces of the shift assembly. There are the pivot bushings that go in the lever itself, and there are the front/rear stay and shift linkage bushings underneath.

Bushings are more important than the lever itself, IMO (and that of many others).
